Creators in Time: Navigating the Messy Path to More
Have you noticed this about yourself?
We are distinctly and divinely designed to be creators in space. Not only that, but also to be creators in time—crafters of new futures.
I’m spending a few days in Dallas, co-leading a round table on coaching and reconnecting with dear friends.
Creating a different future was a common thread in my conversations with many, including a young pastor, a CEO of a major company, an investment banker, a missionary, a software engineer, an author of seventeen books, a professor, and others. All accomplished in their field, they are also leaning forward for more meaning, impact, and abundance.
An uncomfortable truth: Our lives are perfectly designed for the results we are getting. Creating a future of "more" requires stepping into redesigning, and that feels messy and dangerous.
The question we need to answer is this: Is this future compelling enough for us to do the deep work of redesigning the present?
Studies show that most will say yes intellectually and no practically, recreating the familiar past out of fear to step into an unfamiliar future. Those who venture into the stormy waters of this future will bear the scars and reap the harvest of being a true creator, living out more abundance, more purpose, and ore impact.
Leave a comment on your experience and obstacles for creating a new future of “more”.
Books I’m reading: The Molecule of More - Daniel Z Lieberman
A trippy and fascinating insight into the chemistry that impacts the way we think. Thought of as the pleasure element, turned out to be the molecule of more opening up possibilities on how to enhance our motivation to create a different future.
Movies I loved: Napoleon by Ridley Scott - undoubtedly a masterpiece best enjoyed on the big screen.
