"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." - Henry David Thoreau
I've always found this quote to be both accurate and motivating. The thought ignites a fire in me, as I refuse to be counted in this statistic that persists, no matter how evolved, advanced, and prosperous we become as a civilization.
We live in human history's most possibility-filled, resource-rich, and technologically advanced era. However, this does not save us from quiet desperation; sometimes, it enhances it.
This accelerating advancement can also be leveraged to design a life unfathomable just a few decades ago.
Now, more than ever before, we have the opportunity to design our own lives.
This is the last chance to sign up for my free webinar, Faith-Fueled Success, with special guests Brandon Knicely and John Hoyt. Jan 26th, 12 PM CST.
Join us as we unpack the power of the spiritual dimension to propel our careers and callings. I'm excited to see people from all over signing up and for the perspectives my guests bring to the conversation. Q&A at the end.
*if you can’t make it - we’ll send you the recording.
I recorded this video as a stream-of-consciousness, high-level overview of what I've learned through trial and error about designing a life you'll love.
It's a step-by-step view with practical ideas you can implement immediately and over the long haul.
While I admittedly may be on the adventurous, even reckless side of trying new things, we all dream and strive to live a life that feels authentic and enriching to us and those around us.
For the vast majority of us living in the prosperous West, and increasingly so in the rest of the world as well, there is no good reason to lead a life of quiet desperation.
Before you watch this video, I have a question and a favor to ask:
I will be writing a short book entitled (tentatively) "The Little Book of Big Reasons to Love America." Told entirely from my subjective perspective as a grateful immigrant in the US, this is a love letter to America in an election year where citizens will be bashing America (fairly and not).
It seems to me that a positive perspective on America from an immigrant would be helpful.
Question: Would you consider subscribing to Headspace as a monthly paid or founding member subscriber? Here’s what you get as a thank you:

What I'm watching:
I am rewatching the epic 1883 series. Streaming on Paramount+ and created by the inimitable Taylor Sheridan. This series is flawlessly written, acted, and shot. Every shot is just beautiful to look at.
What I'm reading:
"Outlive" by Peter Attia. Based in Austin, TX, Peter reframes the approach to health and longevity. I realize most people who pick up this book are after forty, but I highly recommend this to anyone in their thirties and is looking to design a life where their body and mind are in peak form.
