My first company in the U.S. took off fast.

It was a music and video production business, and we worked with top Hollywood producers, writers, videographers, and directors to create content for major Eastern European artists. It was exhilarating. I got to collaborate with extraordinary talent, and for the first few years, it felt like we were unstoppable.

I love crests so my first company logo was a crest with my personal motto at the bottom.

Then we hit a plateau. Revenue stalled. Momentum faded. We couldn’t sustain what we had built, and within three years, I had to shut it down.

Looking back, the failure was completely preventable. It wasn’t a lack of opportunity, creativity, or connections—it was a lack of the habits and skills that separate long-term success from early wins.

Since then, I’ve worked with countless business owners, founders, and high achievers, and I keep seeing the same avoidable mistakes:

• They hit success but can’t sustain it. They start strong but don’t have the systems to keep growing.

• They rely on talent and hustle—until they burn out. Hard work gets them to a certain level, but they don’t build habits that create consistent, compounding results.

• They play the short game without realizing it. They make moves that seem smart in the moment but don’t set them up for long-term breakthroughs.

This is why talented, ambitious people get stuck. And it’s avoidable. I find that the greatest waste is wasting my own God-given potential. My advice - invest as much as you can in your personal development and bless the rest of us with your unique talent and skills. Losing Hollywood World was heartbreaking. Although I did create my Third Drive Media out of the ashes, there was no good reason for the company to sink in the first place.

In this post for paid subscribers, I’ll break down the key habits that separate sustained success from temporary wins—habits I wish I had known back then and that my top clients use now.
