It’s My Birthday—And This Gift Isn’t for Me

Today, I’m celebrating my first birthday in Chile since I was five years old. Five months after that, a military coup sent my family on a journey across the world.

It’s been a wild ride. I haven’t just made it through all that change and upheaval. I’ve thrived because of it. That’s why I coach people in anti-fragility—the “life jiu-jitsu” art of turning setbacks into momentum. (Want to master this? Join my next webinar on March 26—grab your spot here.)

But today, as I take in the beauty of Chile and the warmth of family, there’s just one birthday gift I really want. ( some great video from the trip on my insta)

Meet Ascend Academy

Ascend Academy, a nonprofit I co-founded, is a second home for kids who would otherwise spend their after-school hours in the shantytowns where they live. Instead, they’re mentored in character, English, and digital skills—giving them a real shot at breaking the cycle of poverty for good.
