I’ve lived in a post-Christmas world and don’t want to go back
I grew up in the socialist bloc where Christmas was hijacked as a concept and stripped of the Divine.
The Christmas tree became the New Year’s tree; the gifts under it were New Year's gifts. Santa Claus became Father Frost. The family feel and cheerfulness remained, but the epic story did not.
This story of Christmas matters on more levels than we can imagine, both for us as individuals and as a culture. It’s gradually being lost in the US by the commercialization and dechristianization of the Christmas season into the more politically correct Holiday Season ( Politically Correct - a term coined by the Soviets, by the way).
This episode of Headspace is a stream-of-conscience-style reflection on the power of finding our story in THE story from the perspective of someone who came from the place we are all heading to unless we realize what we are robbing ourselves of.
A Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. May you find your story in THE story.
This second video is a lyric video we produced for my cover of Silent Night in English and Spanish. You can listen to the full Christmas Album ( Russian, English, Spanish) here.
