Gyms love January. Why? New Year’s Resolutions.
By February? 80% of those “new year, new me” crowds stop showing up.
By summer? Half the gym memberships vanish like snow in Texas.
Why does this happen? It comes down to a tug-of-war between two primal forces:
1. The Drive to Dream: We all want a better future—happier, healthier, and more fulfilled.
2. The Fear of Failure: Risk is scary. Change is uncomfortable. It’s easier to stick with what we know, even if it’s not working.
The difference between another repeat of 2024 and a breakthrough 2025 is simple: which drive will win? We want it to be more complicated than that, but it’s not.
Every week, I work with people who are laser-focused on transforming their future. The patterns that lead to stagnation are painfully predictable:
• Ignoring physical and nutritional needs.
• Accepting anxiety and stress as the norm.
• Tolerating unhealthy relationship dynamics.
• Filling every waking moment with busyness but no real progress.
• Clinging to old goals that no longer align with their purpose.
• Staying in your lane instead of leaning into your unique abilities.
• Falling into paralysis by analysis instead of taking action.
Sound familiar? What will you do to change that?
Here’s one word to focus on: MOMENTUM. Find a way to move forward. It’s as simple as that. Just move.
I’ve fully reinvented, recalibrated, and redirected my career five times. Zigging and zagging doesn’t mean failure—it means progress. No life journey is a straight line—it never is. What matters is that you move forward: decisively, systematically, consistently.
If you’re like me—maybe a little professionally ADHD—be encouraged. Zigging and zagging in the short run often leads to a massive advantage in the long run. There’s a great book about this: Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World.
Success follows those who make bold, consistent changes to build momentum. Here’s a quick list of just a fraction of the stories I’ve personally helped shape:
• A self-proclaimed “coasting corporate” becomes a driven entrepreneur by recognizing their untapped value.
• A burned-out financial industry leader becomes profoundly happy—and much more successful.
• A divorced and broke athlete becomes happily married and a top business leader in their sport.
The list goes on and on.
So, are your goals for 2025 going to die by February like everyone else’s because of Fear of Failure, or will you fuel your Drive to Dream and finally make the breakthrough you’ve been waiting for?
If you’d like some help figuring out how to do that, join my next webinar on February 5th at Noon Central Time.
Also, have you heard about my new Little Book of Big Reasons to Love America?
One of the coolest features of the book—beyond the 10 chapters packed with insights and stories—is the QR code on every chapter page. Scan it, and you’ll find a video filled with even more crazy and inspiring stories.
These stories—both in my book and the videos—are proof that change is possible, bold dreams are worth pursuing, and momentum is within your reach.
Make 2025 your year. I hope you enjoy it, I pray you’re inspired, and I hope it’s the spark you need to lean into a very different—and better—2025.
