We’ve just launched a redesigned Xponential website that I’m quite proud of. You can check it out here. This is a post about the backstory of the birth of Xponential and why I am particularly passionate about this work.
I want to thank my team at Third Drive Media for the world-class design and mastery of developing the brand and website.
Before I traveled the world, I dreamt of it. So far, I’ve visited over 40 countries.
I dreamt of playing before large audiences, directing a film that made the official selection of a film festival, starting a company, serving the disadvantaged, working with tech startups, interviewing top experts on my own podcast - all of these things and many more have come true because of one conviction: My full potential and my perceived ceiling are two very different things. If I live by the latter, I will live an underwhelming life. If I live by the former, I will consistently break through self-imposed ceilings.
I’ve seen this become a reality in the lives of so many people I’ve worked with. I’ve anonymized the stories to share them freely:
A brilliant tech entrepreneur crippled by divorce, family loss, and personal demons regains his faith, builds a great marriage, and reaches new heights in his work.
A heroin addict with near zero probability of survival cleans up her life, marries, and becomes an accomplished professional.
A young professional with character issues becomes a top brand promoter and then a member of parliament in a European country.
A seasoned financier, crippled by burnout, recalibrates life to find joy and meaning and reaches previously unimaginable professional heights.
A world champion, divorced, broke, and unemployed becomes a great family man, successful entrepreneur, and member of the world executive body in his sport.
A young personal coach crippled by anxiety finds peace, and focus, builds a successful coaching business, and is featured in local magazines as a coach and philanthropist.
A member of the mafia becomes a Christian, builds a healthy marriage, baptizes his daughter, and builds a legitimate multi-million business.
A burned-out pastor becomes a transformative philanthropist, saving lives in a war-torn country.
Another pastor, weighed down by the demands of ministry, recalibrates his life and builds a thriving faith community.
The list goes on and on.
The common thread is that we live out the stories we tell ourselves.
When we change the story, we change our lives. The “before” stories of the people I listed are those of victimhood to circumstances, limitations, traumas, and injustices done to them. There are all stories of perceived ceilings explained and rationalized to, primarily, ourselves are real - but they are incomplete.
The “after” stories are those of pursuing dreams that transcend imagined ceilings through four major shifts that create motivation, momentum and massive change:
Fuel - learning how to reliably and consistently shift from bad to good fuel. From stress, anxiety, anger, and ego to peace, creativity, joy, and selfless service.
Speed - learning how to focus on a clear direction in life and move towards it faster than we thought possible.
Resistance - learning how to eliminate the limiting beliefs and behaviors that are in the way.
Radar - learning how to consistently flourish in the dimensions of life that bring holistic success that lasts a lifetime.
Most people will not make these shifts because they require courage, discipline, faith, and commitment. If we don’t want most people’s results, we must be willing to do what most won’t. It’s not magic, hype, or just inspiration—it is a foundational change from the inside out.
People who apply to be part of my coaching program fall into two main categories:
1. Those who have hit a perceived ceiling and are determined to break through it.
2. Those starting a new chapter of growth and opportunity. They understand that what got them where they are will not get them where they want to go.
One of the great joys of my life is seeing my clients shatter ceilings. This is why Xponential is both a calling and a community for me.
As we celebrate the new and improved website - I may ask something of you?
Watch this 2-minute video, and check out the new and improved website. If it resonates with you - schedule a call with me; I’d love to hear your story.
If you think it will resonate with a friend - forward them this email. You may be giving them the greatest gift. An opportunity for exponential change.
What I’m reading: Mind Shift by Erwin McManus. I’ve followed Erwin for years, although I haven’t met him yet. He’s a brother from another mother. Christian leader, Latin American immigrant, artist, coach - we have a ton in common, and it’s no surprise our thinking seems to be on the same frequency.
What I’m watching is The Dead Don’t Hurt, a masterfully crafted tale of life on the American frontier written, directed, and starring one of my favorite actors, Viggo Mortensen. It's just beautiful.
