Today’s Deep Dive — The Joy-Brand Connection
Why the things that energize you are the clearest path to your next chapter of influence and income
I’ve sat across from hundreds of people who were stuck.
Not lazy. Not unmotivated. Just blind to their edge — because they kept ignoring the hints that were there all along.
The things that made them feel fully alive? Too easy. Too obvious. Must not count, right?
Wrong.
We miss the signal because we’ve been trained to think work = struggle.
But what if the very thing that lights you up… is the thing that lights up the people you’re meant to serve?
You just have to stop dismissing it.
Here’s what I’ve learned after years of helping people sharpen their edge:
If it feels like fun, not work — pay attention.
Patterns from your past often signal your future.
The people, places, and rhythms that energize you? Clues.
Joy is not a side effect. It’s a compass.
Mine?
Creating. Communicating. Culture-shaping.
That doesn’t mean I was always good at them.
As a teenager, I recorded terrible demos on a cassette deck and a cheap keyboard for hours. I’d forget to eat. Time disappeared. I chose to trust that and I got better.
That’s what Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi later defined as flow.
Joy was pointing to my edge before I had words for it.
Your Story Is Sending Signals
I didn’t fit in as an immigrant — so I decided to stand out. Now I help others do the same.
I grew up poor — so I learned to create value. Now I teach others how.
I was a natural performer — now I coach communication and stage presence.
My father was a learner — I became one too. Now I help others master skills fast.
Joy leaves a trail.
And your edge is often hiding in the things you think are “just fun.”
