When the Fog Rolls In
Mission drift doesn’t announce itself — it erodes your purpose in silence. Here’s how to get clear again.
When the Fog Rolls In
This morning, I struggled.
That low-grade ache… the path forward feeling like a blur.
Depleted, unfocused, questioning.
It’s not unusual for me — and I know it’s not uncommon for you.
We keep pushing forward. Building, serving, producing.
Until one day the fuel runs low and the vision gets cloudy.
So this week, I stopped.
For hours every day, I got still, journaled, listened, prayed.
I mapped out the next 3 months — not just the goals, but the mission behind them.
And as the fog lifted, I remembered why this work matters.
Last week, one of my clients in Xponential had a breakthrough so epic, we could hardly believe it.
A true miracle.
Something that had felt stuck for years — unstuck in a moment.
We all knew it wasn’t just the moment.
It was the months and months of deep work.
The vulnerability. The discipline.
The guidance and support of the cohort that refused to let him settle.
And yet… it was still supernatural.
One of those rare, holy moments where mission comes into blazing focus.
This is why I do what I do.
Not for vanity metrics.
Not for applause.
For moments like that — when someone finally steps into the life they were meant to live.
The Quiet Threat Most Leaders Miss
Most people aren’t lazy.
They’re just out of alignment.
Doing good work, but not the right work.
Busy, but not becoming.
Moving, but not moved.
Mission drift rarely shows up as a breakdown.
It shows up as quiet disconnection that compounds over time — until something that once felt sacred now just feels like survival.
And it’s easy to miss when you’re in motion.
That’s why the answer isn’t always more action.
It’s clarity.
Two forces are always pulling on you:
The Call of Clarity — to return to what matters most.
The Pull of Performance — to keep moving, no matter the cost.
Clarity takes courage.
But that’s where transformation lives.
You don’t drift back to alignment.
You fight for it.
You make space.
You surround yourself with people who hold you to your higher self.
And when the fog clears — you move. With focus. With conviction.
If the path feels hazy right now, pause.
Get still.
Let the clarity return.
If that pause feels overdue…
